American model Shanna Moakler has decided to make it very clear that she was “hurt and upset” by first runner up in Miss USA 2009 pageant Carrie Prejean’s comment about gay and lesbian marriage.

Moakler, 34, was upset by Prejean saying that a “marriage should be between a man and a woman”, and she has decided to make a stand for what she believed in - the right for gay and lesbian couples to marry.

The model was in North Hollywood on April 28 with co-executive state pageant director Keith Lewis as they prepared Miss USA 2006 first runner-up Tamiko Nash and last year’s Miss California Raquel Beezley to shoot a NO H8 Campaign.

The campaign hopes to raise awareness and eventually have Proposition 8 over-turned in California.

“It’s important for us right now to participate in this, especially given the conversation surrounding Miss California. We’re here showing we’re a family, we agree to disagree and support our beliefs,” Fox News quoted Lewis as saying, as Moakler nodded in agreement.

“It’s been a difficult time but we want to show that there are a lot of different families, I was raised by a single mom, and I am dad to two children that are being raised by two moms. Can’t we all just love each other and get along and celebrate the fact that people are able to find true love?

“We are working through it; we’re a family in resolution. We really want to give Carrie an opportunity to express her beliefs, the Miss California system is about empowering women to be strong and independent and stand up for whatever they believe in.

“So as soon as Carrie is done explaining her beliefs we really look forward to her coming back to our platform. I’m proud that she was able to stand there and utter whatever it was that came out of her mouth. I’m a 45-year-old man and I don’t think I could explain myself to millions of people,” he added.

US model Shanna Moakler stands up for gay marriage

American actress Jennifer Garner showed off her cuts and bruises during a recent appearance on the David Letterman show.

Garner, 37, had earlier this month grazed her knee, elbow and wrist in a freak fall, and the nasty cuts could be seen during the show held on April 29.

“I went down hard!” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

The actress, who was wearing a little black dress during the interview, said she had to put on a brave face in front of her three-year-old daughter Violet, though she privately shed a few tears over the accident.

“Isn”t it just a nightmare? Violet said, ‘Mama, did you cry?’ and I said, ‘I did cry a little bit, it really hurt’, and she said, ‘I want to see you cry again’,” she added.

Letterman then produced some healing cream from his desk and applied it to Garner’’s cuts, before the actress swiped the antiseptic and put it down the top of her dress - to use again later.

Hollywood actress Christina Applegate has admitted that she was devastated when photographers caught her smoking just months after she won her cancer battle.

Applegate, who underwent a double mastectomy and was given the all-clear last August (08), revealed that she has stayed way from smoking since her diagnosis and it was a ‘rare slip up’.

“It’’s been very painful because I feel it was discounting all the work that I”ve done. The day I found out I had cancer I quit everything that was bad for me that I was putting in my body,” Contactmusic quoted Applegate, as telling People.

“Over the last year, with everything that’’s happened, there have been a couple of times that I”ve slipped up. That was one of those rare occasions - and of course they got the picture,” Applegate added.

Michelle Obama, who has achieved celebrity status and wowed the world as a fashion icon, made it to the list for the first time.

Zac Efron and Rob Pattinson, who have huge teen girl following, also joined the list.

Pattinson’’s vampire-loving co-star Kristen Stewart, teen music idols Nick and Joe Jonas also made the coveted list for the first time.

George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Halle Berry are also part of the list.

Meanwhile, rumours are abuzz that Patel and Pinto are dating each other.

The reports were further confirmed when the pair was recently caught enjoying an intimate lunch date in Israel, where Pinto, 24, is filming on location.

Hollywood actress Miley Cyrus’ musician father Billy Ray has revealed that he trusts his daughter and is sure she’ll always make the right decisions.

Ray, who plays Cyrus’ on-screen father in the Disney series and movie about teen sensation Hannah Montana, revealed that although he spends too much time with his daughter, he remains a ‘laid back’ father.

“I just trust her so much,” Contactmusic quoted Billy Ray as telling a London press conference ahead of the release of the film based on the Hannah Montana show.

“She’’s got a great head on her shoulders and makes pretty good decisions most of the time and even has enough common sense that if she makes a bad one, she makes adjustments. She knows that what life is, it’’s a day-by-day, step-by-step journey; as she sings in the movie, it’’s a climb, but the view is great,” Ray said.

“I try to be a friend for Miley - I know that’’s not every parent’’s style but I try to be a friend to her and partner as an actor, a singer and a songwriter, and just let her be a teenage girl and do her thing,” he added.

Rumours of Bruce Springsteen romantically involved with a New Jersey woman have fallen flat after the star kissed his wife Patti Scialfa onstage at the recent Film Society of Lincoln Center Gala Tribute in honour of Tom Hanks.

The veteran rocker asked fans, “May I bring out my lovely wife?” before Patti slowly stepped out onstage in front of the cheering New York crowd.

He then kissed his wife of almost 18 years on the lips before performing ‘Philadelphia’, the Oscar-winning title song to the 1993 film that won Hanks his first Best Actor Academy Award, reports People magazine.

Springsteen later left the Alice Tully Hall stage with his better half with a hand on her back.

The singer defended his marriage with the E-Street bandmate after being accused of adultery.

In a statement, he said the pair’s “commitment to one another remains as strong as the day we were married.”
