Winehouse tried for baby with Fielder-Civil, reveals dad

Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch has revealed that the singer wanted to have a baby with ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil but was shattered when could not conceive.

He said that her daughter’s poor health stopped her from having a baby.

“She was desperate to have children with Blake and she told me they were trying but they couldn”t. Thank God!” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

He also added that the troubled singer had quit drugs on her eight-month Caribbean break and conquered her bulimia, and also regained health which could help her conceive now.

Mitch said: “Now her body is in full working order again she”d love to be a mum.”

Christina Aguilera becomes DJ, talks music, film

Music-Q&A-Christina Aguilera NEW YORK (AP) — You’ll be hearing more of Christina Aguilera’s voice on the radio soon, but it won’t be in the form of a song. Instead, the pop singer will work as a DJ.

Aguilera’s very own radio station is set to debut Friday. The 24-hour online channel will be distributed across Clear Channel Radio’s “iheartradio” network, and will feature interviews, news, personal commentary from Aguilera as well as her favorite tunes.

“It stands across so many different feels and genres from A Tribe Called Quest to the Beatles to Billie Holiday to Bjork to Black Sabbath, Jay-Z,” she said in a phone interview from Los Angeles on Wednesday.

The new radio venture, A.P.E. Radio (Artist Personal Experience), will also launch The Eagles’ own channel Friday, to be hosted by guitarist John Walsh. Weezer’s station is set to launch next month.

The radio station is not the only project she’s working on. Aguilera, a 28-year-old mother to a 1-year-old son, is also working on a new CD and has signed on to do a movie with Cher; both are due to be released next year.

The Associated Press: How does a radio channel fit you?

Aguilera: In the beginning when I make my CDs, I make inspiration record-CDs and I hand them out to all the producers that I am looking forward to working with. And I hand out these CDs and at the end of the day it’s funny because all the producers, or a lot of the producers, are like, “Wow, you should be a DJ.” It’s a really great mix of songs, and they’re so different and eclectic and that’s my style in general.

AP: Will you premiere your new music on the channel?

Aguilera: Possibly. I’m really, really excited to release some of my new music and this is actually a great way to let my fans hear maybe a little sneak preview.

AP: You’re working on electronic-futuristic pop. Why that sound now?

Aguilera: I kind of had an idea for a futuristic feel for many years now, but I also had that idea that I wanted to do a soul, blues and jazz record also. But I knew I had to do that one first … It’s always been in the back of my mind to do a more futuristic sound. But I felt like it couldn’t been a better time or place for me personally also as a new mom.

AP: While you’re creating your new CD, are you paying attention to what’s on the radio now?

Aguilera: No, that was the funny thing too. I did start to notice that music did start to take a more electronic turn … But I really don’t pay attention to what’s going on out there because I want everything I do to have a very original feel. I wanted to keep a good balance of future but still mix it with a very real and believable sound.

AP: Now that you have a family, have you had any issues with paparazzi?

Aguilera: We moved into our new house about a year ago but since I started working on the record, I have a studio in the backyard … and it just has been so perfect for me to just wake up in the morning, put on my flip flops and sweat pants, and just go back in the studio and pretty much get into my creative cave and zone out that way, so it’s been really convenient. So the paparazzi have probably been upset with me. I know they told my husband, they’re like, “Is she every going to leave the house?”

AP: Talk about your new film “Burlesque.”

Aguilera: I finally believed in a movie enough and a script enough, and a director enough to sign on and do my first feature film. Cher will be starring with me, so it’s very exciting for me to step into that project and I’ll be taking it very seriously so that’s actually what I am diving into filming over the next few months.

AP: What comes to mind when you look back at how your career has gone so far?

Aguilera: I keep trying to test myself and try new things because at the end of the day, I want to look back at a huge body of work and be so excited … I never like to get too comfortable because I think that’s when you start to really fail, when you start believing your own hype so I’m always very reserved in my own praise of myself. … I always try to shoot for bigger and better basically.

Michelle Pfeiffer ‘avoids wearing short skirts’

Actress Michelle Pfeiffer has admitted that she does not prefer wearing skimpy clothes despite having a great figure, because of her age factor.

“I can’t wear a skirt that’s too short any more. It’s not that my legs are bad, it just looks silly. I feel less pressure to dress youthfully,” the Daily Express quoted her as saying.

The beauty said that she chooses to wear jeans instead of short skirts, keeping her age in mind.

She said: “I’m 50 and everyone knows I’m 50 – who are you kidding? Jeans are my uniform. I have about 15 pairs.”

Michelle made her screen début in 1980, but first garnered mainstream attention with her appearance in Scarface (1983).

Bryce Dallas Howard to play villain in third ‘Twilight’ film

American actress Bryce Dallas Howard is set to play evil character Victoria in the third ‘Twilight’ film, ‘Eclipse’.

Howard, 28, will be replacing Canadian actress Rachelle Lefevre, who took on the role in the first two instalments of the franchise, revealed its makers.

“Rachelle brought Victoria to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character,” the BBC quoted Summit Entertainment’s Erik Feig as saying.

“The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role,” he added.

Lefevre, 30, had quit the vampire movie, as production on a film with actor Dustin Hoffman is due to start in another part of Canada at the same time.

The character of Victoria in the vampire saga is the sworn enemy of the story’s heroine, Bella.

The first film in the series was released last year, and its follow-up, ‘New Moon’, is due to hit cinemas in November.

Yes, Saif-Kareena have kissed 15 times in just two films. Just on the heels of Kareena kissing Akshay Kumar 10 times in their recently released film Kambakkht Ishq, Saif is said to have kissed Deepika Padukone five times in their film Love Aaj Kal which is set for release tomorrow.

Kareena defended her kisses, saying that the script demanded it. Nobody complaint following the good opening the film witnessed. Now, the question is whether Saif’s kisses will pull in the crowds to the theatres.

You don’t have to wait for too long for the final verdict will be out tomorrow when it hits the theatres.

Jennifer Love Hewitt to launch horror comic book ‘The Music Box’

Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt is ready to scare her fans – she is set to publish her own graphic horror comic book series.

She has signed up a deal with IDW Publishing to publish her work ‘The Music Box’.

“The chance to create my very own comic, and a horror/thriller at that, is like a very fun nightmare come true,” the Daily Express quoted her as saying.

She added: “I”ve always been fascinated by the notion that an inanimate object can hold as much malevolent energy as a human being can.

“And when the two meet, or are at cross purposes, very bad things can happen. I”m so proud of The Music Box and can”t wait for people to read it… with the lights on, of course!?”

It is scheduled to hit stores this November.

Nude TV role forced Kiwi star Lucy Lawless to hit the gym

Kiwi actress Lucy Lawless had to hit the gym to prepare for a nude scene in upcoming sword-and-sandals series for television, ‘Spartacus: Blood and Sand’.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the 41-year-old actress spoke about her role as United States cable TV channel Starz unveiled the trailer for the gladiator series at a fan gathering in California.

Producer Steven DeKnight said that Spartacus is going to have “a death toll like nothing you”ve seen on television before”.

Lawless said that a nude scene in the TV series had forced her to join the gym.

“I do have to work out. Being naked on-screen is no fun,” the NZPA quoted her as saying.

The shooting for the series has begun in New Zealand and is slated to be shown on Starz next January.

Mischa Barton makes first public appearance after hospital stay

Troubled actress Mischa Barton looked happy and healthy as she made her first public appearance since she was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold at a Los Angeles hospital earlier this month.

The London-born actress was placed under the care of doctors at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after reportedly suffering a meltdown.

She smiled and waved to photographers outside L.A.’’s LAX Airport before catching a flight to New York.

The former O.C. star is to resume filming her new TV show The Beautiful Life, reports Contactmusic.

Shooting on the programme, created by Ashton Kutcher, was initially reported to have been delayed by Barton’’s hospitalisation, but bosses at The CW network insisted the hold-up was the result of unfinished sets.

The 23-year-old actress is set to play Sonja Stone, a catwalk beauty addicted to pills, on new show, which is tentatively scheduled to start filming on 31 July (09).
