Film director Peter Jackson has revealed that he finds being awarded a knighthood better than winning an Oscar.

Jackson, 48, who is a winner of more than a dozen Academy Awards, was made a Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the New Year Honours.

“This is an incredible moment in my life. I didn’t think anything would surpass the 2004 Academy Awards, but I was wrong,” the New Zealand Herald quoted him as saying.

“The feeling of gratitude and pride I have in accepting this honour from my home country is profound,” he stated.

Sir Peter was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2002, and has “continued to excel in and significantly contribute to the New Zealand film industry”, the citation for his knighthood read.

“I feel very lucky to be able to make movies in New Zealand and I will always be grateful for the support I have received from so many New Zealanders,” Jackson said.

He sees the knighthood as “recognition of the collective achievement of our terrific crews and our film pioneers … who trail blazed a path towards the creation of a modern Kiwi film industry”.

The domestic dispute for which Charlie Sheen was arrested on Christmas has already put his career in danger and now reports suggest that the scuffle could cost the actor and his wife Brook Mueller custody of their twin sons.

HollywoodLife.com reports that Sheen and wife are being investigated by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, which could temporarily remove nine-month-old twins Max and Bob from their custody.

After the dispute, when Mueller alleged that Sheen attacked her with a knife and threatened to kill her, DCFS was informed about the situation by Colorado police and immediately began an investigation into the matter.

The ‘Two and a Half Men’ star was arrested on suspicion of menacing, second-degree assault and criminal mischief.

Sheen has denied threatening his wife with a knife or choking her; he told officers that he and his wife had slapped each other on the arms.

However, the 44-year-old actor’s denial likely won’t be sufficient for DCFS.

Sources say that in all likelihood, a third party will move in with the family.

“It could be a grandmother, mother, sister, anyone with a clean record that is cleared by the court,” Fox News quoted the source as saying.

Sienna Miller is leaving no stone unturned to keep on and off boyfriend Jude Law’s eyes all for herself as they attempt to rekindle their romance.

Sienna has agreed to see in the new year with Law, but with a condition—the actor sends his kids” nanny packing.

“Haunted by what happened the last time they were together, Sienna is leaving nothing to chance second time around,” the Mirror quoted a source as saying.

“She wants her and Jude to work on their friendship first and foremost, and then see if love blossoms. But by the same token, she doesn”t want any reminders of his infidelity.

“Sienna wants it to be just her and the family, and for them to have a quiet, low-key celebration together,” added the insider.

But Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, is a fan too.

She praised Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle, calling her “my woman of the year.”

Aussie fashion model Abbey Lee Kershaw has stripped off for an American fashion magazine.

Steamy nude pics of the 22-year-old glam girl have appeared in the latest edition of US Muse and have also been posted on website fashiongonerogue.com.

The work has been done by photographer Greg Kadel, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The photoshoot comes after Kershaw and two other models were dropped from Alexander McQueen’’s 2010 spring show in New York for refusing to wear his lobster claw-inspired shoes with curved 25cm heels, which the girls believed were dangerous.

Mel Gibson has landed in a new controversy with his Mexican movie —relatives of inmates at a Veracruz jail have blasted plans to move prisoners to make way for the film shoot.

The Hollywood actor-turned-director had planned to film the Ignacio Allende prison in the eastern coastal city.

Earlier this month, Veracruz state governor, Fidel Herrera Beltran, announced that prisoners would be moved out of the jail to allow the film crew to work there.

Authorities had previously planned to transfer inmates to a new prison in the town next year (10).

However, families fear that their loved ones will be sent to facilities across the country if the jail is not built in time, reports the Daily Express.

Hundreds of family members launched demonstrations outside the prison on Monday (28Dec09) in a bid to stop the transfers until the new unit is ready.

The 24-hour protest reportedly came to an end on Tuesday after the prison’’s director announced he had received no orders to transfer inmates and promised that the families would be informed if any prisoners were to be moved.

Gibson previously filmed his 2006 epic Apocalypto in Veracruz and subsequently handed local authorities a 690,000-pound donation to help build new homes for victims of 2005′’s Hurricane Stan.

Paris Hilton has no plans to return to Sydney for seeing in the New Year.

The hotel heiress had spent last New Year’s in Australia.

And sources have said that the reason behind Hilton not opting for Sydney this year is her waning celebrity status.

It is believed that after years of over-exposure and ventures into reality TV, books, bags, perfume, hamburger commercials, etc., the 28-year-old starlet is “hyped out”.

“She’’s over – no one cares anymore,” News.com.au quoted an insider as saying.

A Sydney spokeswoman for Hilton yesterday told Confidential there was “plenty” of interest in the socialite but she set her sights on some other soiree on a distant shore.

“As far as I know there were a lot of offers, not just in Sydney but Brisbane and Melbourne but they [camp Hilton] have looked globally,” she said.

“That sees a lot of action at my parties,” the Mirror quoted her as telling Hello! magazine.

Kim Kardashian is cashing on her tweets, as the socialite’s being paid as much as 10,000 dollars to spread the word about products on her Twitter page.

With apparently 2.7 million followers, the reality TV star seems to have become a prime candidate for endorsing the hottest new thing – even if it’’s a salad.

Her recent Twitter post reads: “The Carl’’s Jr grilled chicken salads came out yesterday!! I”m on my way to Carl’’s Jr for lunch now . . . have you tried them yet?”

The 29-year-old reality TV star has inked a deal with the “in-stream advertising” company Ad.ly to endorse the fast food chain’’s salads, reports the New York Post.

Ad.ly co-founder Derek Rey told PRNewser, Carl’’s Jr. isn”t an Ad.ly campaign client and Kardashian has merely signed on the dotted line to endorse the fast food chain’’s salads, for which she has commanded 10,000 dollars per tweet.

Rey says Karsashian and the other celebs on his roster are limited to one paid tweet per day to avoid turning her audience off with obvious product placements.

“We”re not a polluter,” Rey said, adding that if she’’s tweeting-for-cash, she has to disclose it.
