Jack Nicholson Dead, Jack Nicholson is considering being picked to death by vultures when he dies.
The 72-year-old actor has become fascinated with the traditional sky burials carried out by some Native Americans which involve the deceased’s body being hung from a tree or wooden scaffold and being left for scavengers.
He told German TV channel Tele 5, “I’ve had several ideas. Once I thought it would be nice to be buried under a large statue that is at least ten metres high. Then I liked the nature of the Indians who haul their bodies up into the trees so that they are eaten by the birds.”
Although Nicholson is undecided about the fate of his remains, one thing he is certain about is he does not want to be laid to rest in a coffin.
He said, “I will probably end up in a crematorium as I’m too claustrophobic for a coffin.”
Even though he’s been thinking about his funeral, Nicholson insists he isn’t scared of death and feels as though he has achieved everything he wanted to in his life.
The Oscar winner, who starred in ‘The Bucket List’ with Morgan Freeman, about two terminally ill patients who escape from a cancer ward to fulfil their remaining life ambitions said, “I remember a wonderful conversation I once had with my fellow actor John Gielgud. He said he had made a schedule with things he would like to do before he dies… travel the entire world, learn how to cook, but he found that nothing was as appealing as acting. I agreed with him.”
Native Americans would have sky burials because they believe after death the souls of the dead lingered in the air and watched over the tribe until it was time for their soul to move on to the afterlife.
By raising the bodies up high the belief was the soul could exit its’ mortal constraints faster.

Kd Lang Hallelujah, Canadian pop music royalty shone brightly tonight 
at the opening ceremonies for the 21st Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. One of the top musical highlights was a stunning performance of Canadian poet/songwriter Leonard Cohen’s song “Hallelujah” by Canadian singer k.d. lang. She first recorded the song in 2004 for her album Hymns of the 49th Parallel. She also performed “Hallelujah” at the 2005 Juno Awards. In the past three years the song has taken on iconic status. In 2008 American Idol contestant Jason Castro delivered a performance that generated such interest in the song that Jeff Buckley’s much admired 1994 recording of “Hallelujah” topped the Billboard Digital Tracks chart. Later in that same year X Factor winner Alexandra Burke topped the UK pop singles chart with her version and Jeff Buckley’s “Hallelujah” hit #2. More recently Justin Timberlake went to #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 with his interpretation of “Hallelujah” from the Hope For Haiti Now telethon.
Earlier in the ceremonies top Canadian pop stars Nelly Furtado and Bryan Adams performed a duet on a song titled “Bang the Drum” written by Adams. Sarah McLachlan joined the parade of stars with a solo performance at the piano. In another powerful tribute to Canadian pop music, Joni Mitchell’s classic “Both Sides Now” provided the backdrop for a moving aerial and dance performance. Just Another Ordinary Miracle Today, I need to update this blog more frequently than just when I’m headed off to prison, but it seems like the only time I’m feeling the need to share so publicly. So, as you’ve probably guessed, I’m headed back to prison at 06:30 tomorrow and I’m back at my favorite Best Western not far from the Culpeper Juvenile Correctional Center in Mitchells, VA.
And as I get ready for bed, I’m filled with mixed emotions about heading back in tomorrow to meet 24 new young guys who’ve committed crimes ranging from rape to armed robbery to assault & battery to any of a hundred other offenses. I won’t know why they’re in the system, unless they choose to tell me. I don’t really care. I know that they need some help, some direction, and I know that God has placed it on my heart to reach out and do whatever I can. Even if it’s just keeping my mouth shut (which is difficult) and listening.
This winter’s Epiphany teaming has been nothing short of exasperating for all of us. We’ve had several weeks of getting ready interrupted by our incessant blizzards in the Mid-Atlantic and each of us have some degree of feeling ill-prepared to tackle this challenge this weekend. Some of us are more concerned than others, I’m probably somewhere in the middle, but I know everyone feels it, so please be in prayer for all of us, as well as this weekend’s Stars. All of us invest heavily emotionally in these weekends and we want everything to be just right, and while we know the Stars won’t know or care if something isn’t exactly according to script, it’s still frustrating. We’re all trying to let the Holy Spirit be at work this weekend and not to let our own agendas get in the way.
That said, a couple of bright spots have been noted which give me much hope:
1) Our Small Group from church just began a new study called “Crazy Love” by Francis Chan. It was recommended to me by Holli, a former member of our Small Group who moved on to bigger and better small groups in Colorado Springs with her husband and my close friend, Jeff. (Thanks for keeping us in prayer, guys!!) On the exact same day as Holli told me about this study, my friend Scott posted something on his Facebook page about this amazing “Crazy Love” study he’d just started. So I knew God was telling me something. In one part of the video from Francis Chan, he talks about a student from a local college where he preaches who seems to get more and more out of each service she attends. He asked her how she maintains this incredible enthusiasm and she says that she prays before each worship service that God creates something new and better each time she attends. Not that her last amazing experience is re-created, but that this time she experiences something new and wonderful. Chan goes on to say that God, a creator by nature, loves creating new things. So my prayer this weekend is that God creates something new and amazing for the team and for the Stars this weekend.
