Michael Jackson’s London tribute gig in doubt

michal jackson 300x286 Michael Jackson’s London tribute gig in doubt A London tribute concert for late King of Pop Michael Jackson is said to be in doubt after the company, which was organising the show, dissolved.

Austrian firm, World Awards Media, which revealed the decision had been made in November, did not provide further details, but liquidator Martin Schneider said the company had lost the financial support of its main sponsor, reports the BBC.

The gig had initially been planned to take place outside Vienna’s Schoenbrunn Palace in September, but it was moved to London’s Wembley Stadium after running into problems.

It was set to take place in June, but now it is not known if Jackson’s brother Jermaine will carry on with the gig himself.

Organisers said too many performers were unable to commit because of scheduling conflicts, and the Austrian media was also accused of stirring up a negative atmosphere.

Former chief promoter Georg Kindel told the Austria Press Agency that he and Superfund founder Christian Baha – the majority owner of the now defunct company – split in October.
