Bipasha Basu, I Am Being Maligned

MUMBAI,BOLLYWOOD NEWS: The Bengali bombshell Bipasha Basu has never looked or felt in better physical shape than she is now. For her it’s all about loving her body.

Her nine-year romance with Bollywood and equally-long relationship with John Abraham is in full bloom. Post her fitness videos, her film career has picked up steam. She has Priyadarshan’s Aakrosh (earlier titled Garam Hawa), a film meant to give her ‘artistic side’ a boost. Then there is Rohan Sippy’s Dum Maro Dum, the slick action thriller that is currently being filmed in Goa. She’s studying a couple of more scripts and is streamlining her endorsements.

On Easter Sunday, she had a double lunch date at beau John’s home and in her best friend Deanne Panday’s house. Her personalised clothes line will be launched post the IPL grand finale. With such a flurry of activities, one would naturally assume that Bipasha’s mood is upbeat. Yet there is something niggling at her and being the forthright girl that she is, Bipasha comes straight to the point: “Recent media reports are constantly saying just one thing. They’re either talking about my divagiri or me being unprofessional. Nothing could be further from the truth than this.’’

Visibly upset with the Bipasha smear campaign, the actress says, “Listen I didn’t get to this position by being unprofessional. Nor do I throw tantrums as it is being made to seem. If I have had issues at a couple of public functions, then it must mean that someone else didn’t keep their end of the bargain. Unfortunately, one-sided stories make it to the media and since I don’t have a strong public relations machinery to put things into the right perspective, my reputation is being tarnished.’’

But she will not wallow in self-pity. Always known for taking the reins of her life and career in her hands, and for quick-silver independent decisions, the actress says, “I know some publications survive on negative publicity. But I just feel it’s unfair to tarnish someone’s reputation just to sensationalise a report. I’m the sort who has usually lets most things ride. But that hardly means that I’m insensitive to what is being said about me. I’m going to get a PR person. I just feel someone should be out there giving my version of every ugly report that raises its head, of late once too often.’’

Having said that, she talks of how her latest two movies Aakrosh and Dum Maro Dum are giving her a chance to bring quality into her performances. And, while she categorically denies that John recommended her to Rohan Sippy for DMD, the actress laughs, “Listen I know Rohan from the Taxi 9211 days where John played the lead. Rohan approached my casting agent on his own accord. John and I have been together for nine years and haven’t interfered in each other’s careers. ’’

Lara Dutta, One Husband Is Enough

MUMBAI,Bollywood NEWS: Lara won’t comment on her personal life,” Lara Dutta’s publicist tells us. It’s quite unlike the Lara we’ve known — forthcoming and open about the men in her life. “Call it anything, maybe a phase. But I won’t comment,” asserts Lara, just back from a trip to the US with her friends.

There are, however, some things that she will talk about. One is her next release Housefull, in which she’s married to Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh. Does she believe in polyandry? “No, it’s illegal. Forget about finding two husbands, I’d be glad if I found one in this lifetime. Getting married once is hard enough, then why would any woman want to do it twice?” she asks. So, why does her character do it? “She comes to London to study and falls in love with a man, whom her father (Boman Irani) can’t stand. I can’t reveal why she has two husbands,” smiles Lara.

Is comedy becoming her comfort zone? “My audiences like me in comedies. It’s a talent I have. If there’s a possibility of doing one great comedy a year by either David Dhawan, Priyadarsan or Sajid Khan, you’d be a fool to turn it down as they’re masters of their craft. But I don’t limit myself to it. I can even do a negative role. I’m more an actor than a star,” she states.

The latest buzz is that Lara will bring out a fitness video à la Bipasha Basu. “I’ve always had a healthy image. I don’t diet, but believe in a balanced lifestyle for the mind, body and soul. Mine will be a lifestyle-wellness product, and not limited to a DVD,” reveals Lara. As for comparisons with Bips’s product, she says, “Bipasha has an amazing body and a mantra that works for her. I never had a muscular body nor can I kill myself in the gym. I’m vegetarian and it works for me.”

She joins the list of actress-cum-entrepreneurs with this one. “You can’t face the camera all your life. I will also produce or direct if I’m equipped to at some point. I’m also writing a script,” she reveals.

Actress And Singer Jennifer Hudson Takes New Role For Weight Loss

NEW YORK NEWS: Actress and singer Jennifer Hudson on Thursday took on a new role as a spokeswoman for Weight Watchers after slimming down since she gave birth more than seven months ago.

The 28-year-old Hudson, who has appeared in a handful of movies since winning the best supporting actress Oscar for her debut film role in 2006’s “Dreamgirls”, says she dropped the weight in order to encourage a healthier lifestyle for her new son, David Jr.

“No one recognizes me any more,” she said on television show “Good Morning America.”. “After I had the baby, I made up my mind that I wanted to go in a different direction and find a better lifestyle.

“I decided to do Weight Watchers,” she said. “I feel like I’ve conquered the world.”

Hudson, a former “American Idol” contestant who won a Grammy award for her self-titled 2008 album, does not reveal how much weight she lost in her Weight Watcher ads, which begin airing on U.S. television on Sunday.

She joins other celebrities such as Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, who in past years have touted the health company’s weight-loss programs, food and other products.

Hudson will soon begin work on a new movie in which she plays Winnie Mandela, the former wife of Nelson Mandela.

“I have just reached a new milestone,” she said. “I was very comfortable with myself before, I have never had a problem with it. It’s just OK, I have a child now and I want to set a great example for him.”

Anna Paquin Pictures, Actress Anna Paquin has revealed she is bisexual as part of a new celebrity campaign for equal rights.

The actress, who is engaged to marry her True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer, has come out as part of a Public Service Announcement (PSA) taped for Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors Fund, which fights for the rights of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community.

The ad features a number of celebrities, including openly gay stars Elton John and Cynthia Nixon, pledging their support to the foundation’s Give A Damn campaign for equality.

In the clip, Paquin declares, “I’m Anna Paquin. I’m bisexual, and I give a damn.”

She also urges viewers to: “Imagine going to work every day and not being able to share your life with your co-workers out of fear of being let go.”

MUMBAI,INDIAN NEWS: Suniel Shetty is one actor who has always been on the forefront when it comes to sports, particularly cricket – whether it be for charity, for promotion of the game or simply for fun. And why not when Shetty himself used to be an avid cricket player at university level. While a few months back he was seen campaigning for hockey, now the actor is having a rocking time watching the IPL matches. More so because of the heady cocktail of cricket and Bollywood that it offers.

“I have always loved cricket and I watch a lot of matches. And when cricket and the glam world meet, it makes an even more interesting watch,” he says referring to IPL which is so laden with celebrities. Suniel has also been associated with another very interesting format of cricket, called Gulli Cricket, which has been initiated by Doordarshan and some other organisations to promote the game and the teams consisting of amateur cricketers. Who Got Kicked off Dancing With the Stars Tonight, Week two of “Dancing with the Stars” had improved dances and not so good dances, but the theme of the week was celebrities who spent more time arguing with their professional dance partners then they did actually learning the dance. As a result; only half of the dance couples topped 20 points including the first tens of the season.

There was not elimination this week so all eleven couples danced for the second time. All scores and votes from week one will be added the scores and votes for this week and the couple with the lowest combined scores will leave the show.

The first couple to take the dance floor was Shannon and Mark who performed a Jive. Len liked the energy but felt Shannon was a little out of control. Bruno really liked the performance saying that Shannon had better energy and performance level than last week and Carrie Ann said it was a solid routine with great improvement. Shannon and Mark received a score of 20 giving them a two week total of 38.

Aiden and Edyta performed a Foxtrot that included blowing a kiss to the judges. Bruno said had a glimmer of hope with some good moments. Carrie AnnCarrie Ann said, “nice job.” Adding that the dance flowed. Len noted that the dance was economical in movement and was an improvement, but said that Aiden needed to improve his footwork. Aiden and Edyta received a score of 19 for a total score of 34.

Premiere Of Clash Of The Titans In London

Leicester Square was temporarily transformed into ancient Greece for the world premiere of the first of the year’s big blockbusters, ‘Clash of the Titans’.

Sam Worthington, Mads Mikkelsen, Gemma Arterton and Alexa Davalos all joined the film’s director, Louis Leterrier, on the red carpet to celebrate the launch of the film that tells the mythological tale of a struggle for power that pits men against kings and kings against gods.

“We are trying to kick it off with a bang. This is a fun, boisterous movie, it shouldn’t be taken too seriously, it is a popcorn film. This is the start of the summer blockbusters,” Worthington, the film’s star, told.

‘Clash of the Titans’ is an epic action adventure film of men vs. gods. Worthington’s Perseus is born of a god but is raised as a man leading a dangerous mission to defeat Hades (Ralph Fiennes) who plots to overthrow Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth.

Helming the project for Warner Bros. Pictures is French director Louis Leterrier (‘The Incredible Hulk’) who up until ‘Titans’ had never made a period movie. Taking on the challenge of ancient Greece would test him to his creative limits.

The film itself was not originally slated as a 3-D project; Warner Bros. felt that there was an opportunity to ride on the back of the success created by James Cameron’s “Avatar” so “Clash of the Titans” transfer from 2-D to 3-D delayed the film’s original release date.

And for Worthington, starring in two major studio movies back to back has elevated his profile to that of global superstar.

Worthington’s career boost in Hollywood came not so much by acting with others, as much as acting with himself — in front of a green screen on which computer generated images are filmed for the effects-filled movies like “Titans.” ‘Clash of the Titans’ will be released across the UK and the US on April 2.

Shoaib Malik-Sania Mirza Wedding On April 11

All set to marry Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, India’s tennis queen Sania Mirza on Tuesday broke her silence and confirmed the news of her marriage to the frenzy of media gathering which was stationed outside her house for a reaction.

Flying back to Hyderabad after a lightning visit to Delhi where she secured visa from Pakistan High Commission for going to Lahore for a reception, a visibly happy Sania was all smiles and accompanied her father Imran Mirza while addressing the scribes present outside her house.

“I and my family are very happy to announce that I am getting married to Shoaib Malik. Inshaallah the nikah (marriage) will take place on 11th of April in Hyderabad and the walima (reception ) is on 15th in Pakistan,” Sania told reporters.

The 23-year-old said she would be lying if she did not expect the development to be a shock but both of them and their families were happy about the marriage. She said she had received messages of best wishes from several people both in India and Pakistan.

Sania Mirza however, refrained herself from adding anything on the furor which the news of her marriage has caused. “We are getting married.

We are not also making any political statement or anything on (Indo-Pak) relations. It’s a simple matter. We are getting married.

We are very, very happy and our families are very happy,” she said.
On the question about since when was she dating Shoaib, Sania said the matter was personal. “I’m not going to answer nor will Shoaib be comfortable answering personal questions,” she said.

She further informed that after marriage, she would settle in Dubai. “Shoaib is a resident if Dubai which I will also become. I will continue to have the passport of India, though. I will continue playing for India and Shoaib will play for Pakistan,” she said.
Sania said though she will miss her friends & family, since Dubai has ‘so many Pakistanis and Indians living there, I would feel better.’

Asked who she would support in case of an India-Pakistan cricket match, she said, “I will obviously support India but I will also support my husband.”
